RYA Radar Course
Sailing yachts and motor cruisers increasingly have radar on board for collision avoidance and navigation.
The International Regulations for the Prevention of Collision at Sea state that if you have radar on board, you must know how to use it. The rules governing the behaviour of boats not in sight of one another are completely different from normal ’colregs’. You must know what these rules are. Do you know rule ’19’?

- How to carry out a radar plot

- MARPA
- Regulations that apply in poor visibility
- Navigation using radar
- Pilotage using radar
This one day - 8 hour - course results in the award of Radar certificate and will allow you to operate your radar with more confidence and uses Lightmaster’s radar simulator to practice collision avoidance, navigation and pilotage.
